Is Green Pest Control Right for You?
With a recent focus on “going green”, many people are ramping up their efforts to establish more eco-friendly habits in the home. From using natural household cleaners to purchasing organic produce, the possibilities for leading a more sustainable lifestyle are endless. One less known green movement, however, involves pest control. As your local exterminators, we are here to help walk you through the basics of green pest control solutions so you can make an informed decision on what the best pest management approach is for you!
Our Local Exterminators’ Guide to Green Pest Control
Traditional vs Organic Pest Control Solutions
Traditional pest control solutions are an effective way to eliminate and control pest populations through the use of legal insecticides in a professional safe and efficient manner. Pest control companies like Palmetto Exterminators are now also offering green pest control programs to cater to the needs of our customers. Green pest control and traditional pest control solutions provide many of the same benefits, however, green programs provide an ideal alternative for those who want to minimize the use of such insecticides in and around the home.
A comprehensive green pest control strategy aims to eliminate common household pests such as spiders, ants, roaches, rodents, earwigs, silverfish, millipedes, centipedes, pillbugs, and more. Further, this approach strategically minimizes its impact on the environment through biodegradable, all-natural ingredients. To maximize its effectiveness, green pest control programs often use a combination of preventative measures, specialized equipment, and the purposeful application of organic pest treatments. If you are debating which type of pest control is right for you, here are a few common reasons why people may opt to go with a green alternative when it comes to keeping bugs away.
Benefits of a Green Pest Control Program
Green pest control programs have many different benefits. For starters, they are designed to have as little effect on the environment as possible, making it an attractive (and eco-friendly) solution for your pest problems. Despite common misconceptions, chemical-free pest control can provide effective, long-term protection, just like traditional pest control solutions. Green pest control products, like Palmetto Green, typically do not stain, making them ideal for indoor treatments. However, the most popular benefit of natural pest control is that it significantly decreases the reliance on insecticides to keep pests away. For some pests like cockroaches who tend to be more resistant to traditional pest control methods, green pest control solutions can sometimes be more effective.
Is Green Pest Control Right for Me?
While some homes aren’t a perfect match for green pest control solutions for a variety of reasons, others may be ideal candidates. So, how do you know if a green pest control program is right for you? We recommend consulting with an experienced pest control specialist who can walk you through the program so that you can make an informed decision based on your pest control preferences.
At Palmetto Exterminators, our pest control treatments only include ingredients that are safe for you, your family, and your pets. Nothing is more important to us than the health and wellbeing of you and your loved ones! Our Palmetto pest control specialists are trained to protect your home from pests without damaging the surrounding ecosystem or posing a health risk. That said, some homeowners simply feel more comfortable with the use of natural products in and around their homes. We respect that preference and have taken great care to design green pest control strategies that blend traditional techniques with modern technologies.
Get Started With the Palmetto Green Pest Control Program
While our traditional pest control programs are always carried out in an ecologically sound manner, the introduction of new products and technologies has allowed us to develop two new green pest control programs, GreenPro and Green Hybrid. These systems rely exclusively on natural, organic, and biodegradable compounds, like cedar oil, lemongrass, and pyrethrin to shield your home from pests. We are proud to be one of the first pest control companies in the nation to offer a GreenPro designated program as a result of our commitment to providing reduced risk, comprehensive, and effective pest control services. This program is administered by the National Pest Management Association and endorsed by the Natural Resources Defense Council.
All of our pest management programs, green and traditional, follow the 5 basic principles of integrated pest management: a tailored pest control plan, pest inspection and identification, ongoing perimeter protection, and continued customer service. For each of our specialized natural programs, we first complete a pest inspection to identify any problem areas in and around your home. Once we inform you of any findings, we work with you to eliminate harborage areas and utilize proactive control measures. Next, we will clear any current pest infestations by physically removing spider webs, nests, and more. Then, we will provide a specialized green pest control treatment depending on which program you choose. If you are in the process of deciding whether GreenPro and Green Hybrid is right for you, here are the main differences you need to know:
GreenPro
Our GreenPro program is a bi-monthly program based on an integrated approach to pest control. One of the key differences with this program is the partnership aspect. With GreenPro, our Palmetto pest specialists establish a collaborative relationship so that we can work with you to come up with a highly customized pest control plan based on your individual needs and preferences. With this program, we will also provide regular spot treatments to problem areas with the NPMA’s approved GreenPro products.
Green Hybrid
For those in need of more rapid results, we offer the Green Hybrid pest control program. What sets this pest solution apart from GreenPro is that it relies on a combination of traditional and green pest control techniques. In addition to the use of natural pest products to treat problem areas every three months, we will apply a traditional non-repellent insecticide to the exterior of your home twice per year, in the spring and summer months when pests are most active.
Are you ready to go green with your pest control? Take it from the experts – it’s much safer and easier to keep the pests out than it is to get rid of them once you’ve found a problem in your home.
